Marked
Fear Was a brutal cavern I fell into When my dad was dying and I Couldn’t fix it Couldn’t stop it Couldn’t save him and That kind of fear That fire in your lungs and stomach That hot coal in your throat That unwilling march toward the spikes Dragging your feet till they’re Red wallpaper Screaming and shrieking but None of it matters Fate files its nails in the face of your Terror Helplessness Fear I’ve been in that thing’s mouth It knows what I taste like
Hi, there. Thanks for reading Marked. I appreciate your taking the time to read all the way to here. Grief and work have been taking turns eating my attention lately, but I’m managing to write more this month at least.
It’s hard how losing someone close to you makes you start seeing all the way to the ends of things. Relationships especially.
Whenever I think of those I love, I can’t help wondering if I’ll be mourned or bereaved by them. One of us will be here longer. That’s the weirdest fucking thing to know and walk around with and not react to. How fragile all this is. How everything can change in one second without you having one word of say.
And yet we put off so much of what we say means the most to us to all those uncertain tomorrows. (Like how I haven’t worked on my novel in months. Sigh.)
Anyway, buttons are below to use at will. Thank you so much again for being here. 🖤
